Zepbound is an injectable medication, and it's crucial to follow your healthcare provider's instructions precisely for safe and effective use. Here's some general information; always refer to your prescription information and doctor's guidance.
Injection Site Selection: Inject Zepbound under the skin (subcutaneously) in your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites each week to avoid lipohypertrophy (lumps under the skin). Do not inject into areas that are bruised, tender, hard, or scarred.
Preparation: Before injecting, remove a new pen from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Do not warm it in a microwave or hot water. Inspect the pen visually. The liquid should be clear and colorless to slightly yellow. Do not use if it is cloudy, discolored, or contains particles.
Injection Procedure:
Pen Disposal: Dispose of used pens immediately in an approved sharps container. Do not reuse needles or pens. Check local regulations for proper disposal procedures.
Dosage and Timing: Administer Zepbound once weekly, on the same day each week, at any time of day. If you miss a dose, administer it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) of the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and administer your next dose on the regularly scheduled day. Do not administer two doses within 3 days of each other. The dosage will be determined by your doctor.
Important Considerations:
Training: Your healthcare provider should provide thorough training on how to properly inject Zepbound before you administer your first dose. Ask questions if you are unsure about any step.
